Feeding the Homeless:
This ministry prepares and serves well balanced lunches for 20-25 families every Monday and Tuesday at the Homeless Resource Center in Hernando, FL. They rely on the generosity of our parishioners and others in providing gift cards and/or monetary donations to purchase the groceries for these meals. This is a very rewarding and appreciated ministry.
Food Pantry:
The food pantry ministry helps feed those in need in our local area. Each month a bag of non-perishable food is provided to each family or person that requests our help.
All of the food distributed is thanks to the gracious generosity of our parishioners. We collect food on the first Sunday of the month and our current needs are printed in the weekly bulletin. Some parishioners prefer making a cash donation allowing us to purchase the food we need. Please designate any contribution as “for the Food Pantry”. Volunteers for the pantry typically work two to three hours a month; sorting, packing or helping on distribution day. It’s an easy, enjoyable and rewarding task as many express their gratitude.
Health Ministry:
The Health Ministry is open to licensed and retired R.N.s who operate a blood pressure clinic in the Conference Room where we not only check blood pressures but follow up on instructions provided at earlier visits, answer questions regarding medications, and offer advice when we see a need like suggesting a visit with their M.D. In October, we have a Flu Shot Clinic in partnership with a local pharmacy. We are open on the first Sunday of the month following the 10:30 mass in conjunction with Hospitality Sunday. During times when Hospitality Sundays are not active, this Ministry also takes a break. We have an AED in the church and the PLC. Periodically we arrange training regarding the use of these defibrillators. Volunteers are always welcome to join this team.
