Community of Catholic Women

The Community of Catholic Women (CCW) of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church began in 1965 with fourteen members. There are currently 126 members.

The CCW provides opportunities for spiritual growth, the development of God-given talents, and the establishment of caring relationships with others. The Pastor of Our Lady of Grace serves as our Spiritual Advisor.

Monthly business meetings are held from September through April. The meetings feature guest speakers, refreshments, and post-meeting socializing. Notices of all meetings are published in the church bulletin. The end of the season in May is marked with a Mass and an Appreciation Luncheon for members and staff.

A Corporate Communion Mass, followed by a dinner, is held in October.   The November meeting includes a Remembrance Service for members who passed away during the year. Additionally the CCW has two masses said: one for CCW members, and one for their spouses who passed away during the year. A Baby Jesus Luncheon is held in December, with proceeds donated to the Pregnancy and Family Life Center. A Winter Blizzard is part of our February meeting, with donations going to CASA (Citrus County Abuse Center). A morning of reflection is held in March.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry began in 2010. Care and love of knitting (and crocheting) combine into a prayerful ministry that reaches out to parish members who are in need of comfort and solace. Many blessings are knitted into every shawl. Members and parishioners are invited to join this ministry under the auspices of the CCW.

Matter of Balance classes are held in the PLC to help older adults reduce their fear of falling, thereby enhancing activity levels and enabling them to remain in their homes. Two CCW members who have been trained by the State Administration of Aging serve as coaches for the program.

The CCW holds four major fundraisers throughout the year: the Holiday Bazaar in October, Tricky Tray in January, Trash ‘n Treasures in February, and a Fashion Show in the spring. Proceeds are donated to the parish, the community, and to international organizations.

All Catholic women are encouraged to join the CCW. Annual dues are $7 and can be submitted at the September meeting.

CCW Membership Envelopes, located in the Church Bulletin boxes, may be used for this purpose, or use any envelope addressed to CCW Membership Chair. Please place the envelope in the collection basket or deliver it to the Church Office (include your name, address, phone number, e-mail and birthdate and make checks payable to CCW).

The CCW begins its new season on June 1st.
